Colour for Print ... publishing & editorial

CMYK

This design above is a clear sure sign that the CMYK had to be used in the creative of it all due to the way in which the colours and the variations of striking colours were created, the magazine really brings it out in the work aswell making it striking and interesting to look at and makes you want to read more, however the cost to print this much stuff at a digital to make sure the print quality was high would cost alot of money and this will then in turn make it look better then if it was say printed through lithography

This is one of my favourite magazine spreads which i have seen in a very long time, the way that everything is just slightly offset so that you can see the way in which it will all work together and link in to make it a very clean and crisp design.

The spreads where you can actually see where they moved the pages around so that the CMYK overlaid slightly to make it just that little more difference and so that it stands out from the rest of the crowd and how it will have the design edge over the rest, This really stands out from the rest for me and makes it that little extra special, its a shame that this isn't in english otherwise i would subscribe to this and pay to get it delivered, i might try get one anyway just for the design concept of it.

Monochrome and Tints

This is a simple monochrome print which is yellow and then has the use of tins for the grey section which has come from the main focus of black in the centre and then again this then fades back out to white, thus giving us the tints stage of all of this, something so simple works so well and it really makes you want to pick this up and read it.

Personally for me this isn't the best way of looking at what i want to achieve with my work when im older but i thought it would be best to get a range of different styles in there which make my broad understanding of graphic design better. The simple red on the white background gives a bold statement on whats going to happen and its eye catching, they have made the book look that little more professional by adding an emboss to the centre of the page so that it gives it the value of something really expensive instead of having just a clean red page.

Spot Colour

The stock on this makes it look alot stronger and this is what makes the spot colour really work to this standard, the orange really comes out and captures what you want it to do, Also with the way that the black text is always half cut out which should make it illegible but it doesnt it still works really well and doesnt make you struggle to read it at all. This is something that must have had to be a must to make sure that it all works, if this didn't happen then you would have a serious problem on your hands and the graphic design editorial piece wouldn't work aswell as it could have,

Even thought the colour on this isn;t exactly what you would expect, im pretty sure that the way in which it can be seen as spot colour even thought its a foil print, technically its still a print which works with only one colour on it, this is something that does have that effect and benefits from it strongly.

The bottom page however has a cheeky yellow stock colour which then when the print is onto that it changes the way in which it can work and adds a new way of seeing things and how you want them to work overall.
